The ultimate landscapes/ Collage on cardboard/ Nov. 2015
In this series, most collages are derived from fictional or instructional children’s storybooks, where aesthetic values are usually neglected and function valued. The books used are mostly from pre-revolution era of Iran. This series is an attempt to re-contextualize the aesthetic value of the storybook paintings by means of new compositions. With a futuristic and apocalyptic outlook, the collages represent spaces beyond boundaries of time and location. Landscapes that sometimes represent the frailties of mankind in conquering nature, its loneliness, and on a macro-level, the isolation of subject from context.
Overall, this series is a reflection of the artist’s imagination in representing a unified story without a linear and solid narrative.
